Tips for Overcoming Ambien
Addiction
Do you know the
symptoms?
I suffered
fromAmbien addiction myself a few years ago. My doctor
knew that I had an addictive personality, and had suffered
from drug abuse and dependence in the past before, but he
thought that there was little chance of me getting hooked
on this particular drug...
"Most
people assume that Ambien is totally
safe"
Although drug abuse and addiction is a well known problem in
out society, some drugs do not get the buzz they deserve. Take
the case of Ambien addiction. Although many people know that
sleeping pills can be addictive, for some reason most people
assume that Ambien is totally safe. For most people, it is, but
for some people it can be surprisingly addictive. If you think
that you or someone that you know might be developing a drug
dependence on this or any other prescription drug, it is
important that you learn all the facts.
At first, it seemed like a great pill. I was sleeping the
whole night sleep, waking up rested and refreshed, and feeling
better than I had felt in years. What I did not realize at the
time was that this situation would not last. I was not aware
that on of the ambien side affects would be that I would soon
need more and more Ambien to get to sleep.
Only a few weeks after I started, in fact, I started having
a lot of trouble falling asleep again. Soon I was taking more
and more Ambien, and getting less and less rest. I was feeling
anxious, exhausted, and strung out all of the time while I was
abusing ambien. When I finally got into a drug treatment
facility, I was in a pretty bad place. I decided to go cold
turkey to fight against my Ambien addiction. I was awake for
several days in a row, and plagued by terrible anxiety the
whole time.
The one good thing about having Ambien addiction as opposed
to being hooked on some other drug is that you can not buy
Ambien on the street. If your doctor knows not to prescribe
more of it for you, you will not have any sort of supply
available. This makes it easy to stay clean once you admit to
yourself and your doctor that you have a problem. As with any
other substance abuse drug addiction, the most important thing
is to get up the courage to ask for help in the first place. If
you can do that, there is no doubt in my mind that you will get
over your addiction to Ambien. Good luck, and stay strong.
